basic summary of backstory: >have cat(indoor only) >have fiance >fiance has uncle who works on a ranch >uncle wants to take cat to hunt mice at said ranch >say no way in hell is that happening >few days later, cat "disappears" from locked room that was broken into, but make to look like nothing happened(tricky door, gotta pull up on the handle to get it to latch, only me and fiance know this) >spend a few weeks checking shelters, filing lost reports(no police report yet, reasoning to follow) and freaking out >have younger "sister-in-law" who says uncle took cat anyways while we were gone >dont want to file police report unless absolutely necessary(to keep fiance happy). >"mother-in-law" isnt trustworthy in the least, but denies doing anything to cat >uncle refuses to get cat back himself, but might give us address of ranch he works at a few towns over so. since my fiance and i will be going to a place we have never been before, to get something of ours back that they might not want to give back(stolen property, essentially), and i dont feel like disappearing into the many acres of land out there(i dont necessarily trust the uncle nor the company he keeps either), would i be...going overboard(?) in trying to get a police escort or something to go with us to get it back, in case the owner or whatever doesnt take too kindly to a young couple trying to get back their pet in terms of either A not wanting to give him back/ being an overprotective arseface? i have paperwork from the previous owner showing his shots(no microchip, sadly)and i have his playthings. including a brush that is a pain in the ass to get all the hair out of it that has the cats hairs in it. got loads of pics on facebook of the cat and i all cuddly too. advice? suggestions? as someone mentioned in my related question, i have to be married to technically have a mother in law so thats kinda...checked off the list of tips. also, i would be going from lovely Modesto, CA to Turlock, CA. *oh, my fiance doest really want to file a police report unless its absolutely necessary. *sigh* *title was supposed to say "get shot or turned down or something +_+"...
